The MEDITERRANEAN SOS Network (MedSOS) is a Greek non-profit and non-governmental organisation, dedicated to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development at the national and Euro-Mediterranean level since 1990. To achieve its objectives, MedSOS works on a vast array of environmental issues, with special emphasis on the integrated management of marine, coastal and inland water resources. Based in Athens, Greece.
MOm (The Hellenic Society for the Study and protection of the Monk Seal) is a Greek not for profit organization that is dedicated since its establishment in 1988, to the protection of the marine and coastal environment, focusing on the critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal. Tools to accomplish the latter include the design and activation of an institutional framework, as well as information and public awareness among the general public and various social groups. These tools must be based on and substantiated by concrete scientific evidence.
Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute is a scientific non-profit organization for the study and conservation of Cetaceans, i.e. whales, dolphins and porpoises. The Greek Seas exhibit a remarkable cetacean diversity and the Institute has conducted extensive research through a large number of both national and international projects of significant acclaim.
Thalassa Foundation participates in the Marine Environment Cooperation Network, a joint initiative of twenty-eight local groups and associations in Greece in order to protect thesea environment. An A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation initiative, the network invites everyone to join in the efforts of safeguarding Greek seas and reducing the use of plastic.
